New Year’s 2011
Dear Family and Friends,
Another year has come and gone, and as usual, and Peggy will tell you this, I have put off writing this letter until she has threaten me with bodily harm and other things. I have always thought I was self motivated, but now I will say I am Peggy motivated.
What a year we have enjoyed and been blest with. Cameron had been going to Weber State University in Ogden Utah for the year and finished up his two semesters there. He worked hard and with his college credits he had in high school, finished up with 59 hours. He applied for an internship with Governor Gary Herbert in Utah and was one of three chosen for the summer. Once he was there, he worked hard and got six more credits and finished up with 65 credit hours, or a junior. We are really proud of him. Now he is on a mission, called to Brazil. He was to go directly to Brazil on October 6th, but his visa hadn’t come, so he went to the MTC in Provo for eight weeks, and still waiting for his visa, so has been assigned to San Diego California until his visa comes. He is in Chula Vista and loves the area, but can’t wait until he gets to serve where he is called, Brazil Salvador South. He sends his love and thoughts to all.
Chase and Melissa are doing fine, Chase completed his year at Boise State on the Dean’s Honor Roll. He is studying something like pre med with a second major in French. Much of the time the professor will ask him to teach. That is cool. Melissa is still working at St. Al’s hospital here in Nampa as a Respiratory Therapist. I will say she is good at what she does and we love having her in the family.
Bryan and Jen are plugging along. Bryan got hired on full time with Senator Mike Crapo and is the area director of eleven counties in the state, including Ada and Canyon Counties. He does a great job and he is very good at what he does. Jen is working hard on expanding the family, and we must say doing great at it. They are expecting a little Don the end of January. They are working on getting the rooms and all ready. I am sure Jen would say she could have this excitement over at anytime. She is so good for Bryan and the family.
Jared and Brianna are doing well. They just finished adding to the family with the birth of Campbell Zoe on November 9th. Campbell was 5 weeks early and it showed. She came in at 10 pounds, 6 ounces. What a cutie she is. All are doing well. Jackson is in kindergarten and doing well. He has become quite the showman. He keeps us in stitches. Brice has shot up the last few months and doing well. Jared got a promotion at work and now is also the media specialist of the group of radio stations. I get the inside scoop on him and very proud. Bri is a great mother and daughter in law. She is really talented and it shows.
Peggy is still working (that is what she calls it anyway) two hours a week at the Nampa Rec Center doing aquatics. She really enjoys the friendships and the time she has to be with others. She still is Relief Society President in the ward. What a job she has. With the economy and all, she has been kept very busy. We had three funerals in the ward along with Thanksgiving and Christmas all in five weeks. She is a trooper, and the ward is very lucky to have her.
Don is just Don. He still does the same thing, working with Taco Bell and other accounts. He loves what he does and is pretty good at it. He has gotten the whole family into the Boise State Bronco Bandwagon with football and basketball. He went to the Las Vegas Bowl and had a great time.
We have been lucky enough to travel some and have a had a great time, visited Washington DC area three times this year, even going to the Boise State/Virginia Tech game. Don got to take Jared and Bri to see the fireworks over the mall on July 4th. What a year we have had.
Our thoughts and blessings are out to you and your family. As we get older, you get to reflect on your family and friends, and it is nice having you on that list. Feel free to call, visit or write at any time.
The Rickers
Don & Peggy
